We are excited to offer digital access to books, audiobooks, magazines, movies, and television shows. Learn how to get started with both below.
Washington County Library offers access to streaming video through Kanopy.
Accessing Digital Materials with Kanopy
- Download the Kanopy app or open Kanopy on your preferred device.
- Find "Washington County Library – Minnesota,” and log in with your library card number and PIN.
- Create a Kanopy account using your name, email, and password. This account will allow you to log in across devices.
Computer: Visit the Kanopy website to stream videos on your computer. | Smart Phone: Download the Kanopy app for iOS or Android devices. |
Kanopy is only available to Washington County residents with a WashCoLib, Bayport, or Stillwater library card. You must be 18 years of age or older to access Kanopy. If you have a library card from another library system in Minnesota, you can contact them to learn more about their free streaming video options.
Watching Digital Content
Kanopy uses a digital ticketing system to play videos that are not part of Kanopy Kids. Washington County users will receive 30 tickets per month to access content. Tickets reset on the first of the month, and do not roll over to the next month.
Kanopy Kids
Kanopy offers an extensive collection of children’s programming. Kanopy Kids content is unlimited – no tickets are required to watch videos in the Kanopy Kids collection.

Most Washington County Library ebooks, eaudiobooks, and digital magazines are accessible through OverDrive's Libby app!
Access Digital Materials with Libby
- Download Libby by OverDrive from your device's app store.
- Follow the prompts to find the MELSA: Twin Cities Metro eLibrary collection. If you already use the Libby app, you can add this collection to your account by following these instructions.
- Sign in with your Washington County Library card number and PIN. The default PIN for your account is the last four digits of your phone number.
You can also use Libby on a desktop or laptop computer by visiting libbyapp.com.

Access an eBook collection for all Minnesotans featuring content from our state’s independent publishers. The collection covers a wide variety of subjects for readers of all ages. These titles do not require the use of an eReader or reading app.
Indie Minnesota
Browse a diverse assortment of titles from local Minnesota authors. Discover mystery, romance, nonfiction, children's, and young adult titles from authors in Minnesota. There are also short story collections, serial mysteries, memoirs, and fantastic literary fiction that await readers of all interests and ages.
