[ARCHIVED] Stay Warm with Winter Reads

Winter Reads.

Winter Reads occurs each year in January and February to encourage reading and community for adults. Participants read books and then submit reviews for a chance to win prizes. The first review will earn a cozy hat this year, and each one after enters the reviewer into a grand prize drawing for a book bundle. Learn more!

Local author series Write in our Midst is also back this year as part of our Winter Reads program! Join us to meet three incredible Minnesota authors:

PatricePatrice Johnson 

Hardwood Creek Library | Saturday, January 20 at 2 p.m. 

Author Patrice Johnson is a cultural communicator specializing in Nordic foodways. She teaches Nordic food classes and presents interactive cooking demonstrations at sites throughout the Twin Cities and beyond. Johnson will share recipes and stories from the expanse of Minnesota’s food traditions, from wild rice to Hmong hotdish, with many stops in between! Be sure to check out Johnson's cookbook Land of 10,000 Plates: Stories and Recipes from Minnesota


Emma T

Emma Törzs 

Oakdale Library | Monday, February 5 at 6 p.m. 

Törzs is a writer, teacher, and translator based in Minneapolis, Minnesota. Her debut novel is Ink Blood Sister Scribe, a tale in which two estranged half-sisters tasked with guarding their family's library of magical books must work together to unravel a deadly secret at the heart of their collection. It's a tale of familial loyalty and betrayal, and a Good Morning America Book Club pick!

louLou Raguse

Wildwood Library | Monday, February 12 at 6:30 p.m. 

Raguse is an award-winning journalist from KARE 11 TV who released his first true crime book in 2023. This presentation will be presented in a multi-media format. Reading Raguse's book Vanished in Vermillion: The Real Story of South Dakota's Most Infamous Cold Case before the program will enhance the presentation experience.
